Albany Regional Radio Studio Upgrade – ABC

In June 2013 Av Comm completed the Albany regional radio studio upgrade of the satellite downlink facilities at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Regional Radio Studios in Albany Western Australia. The works included the decommissioning of two 3.7m Acesat dishes previously operating on the Optus C1/D3 and Optus D2 satellites. The two dishes were replaced with a single Prodelin 1375 Series 3.7m Satellite Dish and Av Comm’s Ku Band Multiple Feedhorn Assembly allowing both satellites to be received from the single 3.7m dish.

Av Comm’s TVRO installation team was mobilised from Sydney and flew to Albany liaising with local contractors to complete to works over the period of a week without disruption to the studio’s normal operations.

The project was successfully executed by Av Comm’s TVRO installation team meeting all stakeholder expectations and performance benchmarks. The team were able to leverage experience gained through previous ABC regional radio upgrades including Wollongong, Media Hub, and Mackay studios.
