Av-Comm is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a significant contract to refurbish and upgrade PNG DataCo’s (DataCo) network of domestic satellite ground stations, a project marking a multi-million dollar investment by DataCo to future-proof their network. The comprehensive project will see Av-Comm refurbish and upgrade DataCo’s DOMSAT C Band network, build a new Ku Band domestic satellite network segment, and build a state-of-the-art Network Management System (NMS) and Network Operations Centre (NOC).
Av-Comm participated in a competitive tender process, partnering with Intelsat, to offer a technically low-risk, value-for-money solution. Av-Comm designed the satellite ground infrastructure component of the bid with the primary focus to leverage DataCo’s existing satellite infrastructure, augmenting and upgrading it with the latest in ground segment technology.
Av-Comm will use a combination of its in-country field engineering resources supported remotely by our project management team in Sydney, and specialist engineering staff that will deploy to PNG to assist with critical areas of the project. Av-Comm’s ability to leverage in-country and expatriate personnel will allow works to begin on the project despite COVID-19 travel restrictions.
