Decommissioning of 9.5m and 7.3m Earth Station

In December 2013 Av Comm completed another major project successfully decommissioning a 9.5m and 7.3m earth station located at NBN Television studios Newcastle. The project consisted of the careful and meticulous disassembly of a 7.3m Andrew Tx/Rx and a 9.5m Vertex Tx/Rx dish. The dishes were packed into two 40ft containers and transported to Sydney for redeployment on another project.

Careful attention was required to ensure every nut, bolt, and washer was documented, numbered, and accounted for to ensure the dishes could be reassembled and utilised for the client at a future date. The project was completed over a period of three weeks with a majority of the work being carried out over the weekend to minimise disruption to the television studio.
