About Av-Comm

Incorporated in 1981, Av-Comm is a second-generation family-operated business headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Av-Comm is the longest-standing privately-owned satellite communications company in Australia and our team is the most experienced and knowledgeable throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

In December 2019 Av-Comm acquired STEP Electronics, a specialist satellite communications hardware supplier to Government and Defence. In 2022, Av-Comm expands its efforts in the space and defence sectors becoming Av-Comm Space and Defence.

Av-Comm Space and Defence’s mission is to promote the critical role the ground segment plays as part of the Australian space ecosystem. The ground segment is critical to the success of all operations in space but is often overlooked and the risks understated. Av-Comm’s experienced engineers champion the design of the ground segment in parallel with that of the spacecraft to optimise and synchronise the data acquisition process for your mission.

Av-Comm Space and Defence offers Australian capability with local manufacturing experience. Our team of specialists are experts in field engineering and technical services, project and risk management, maintenance and sustainment, and system design and manufacturing. Av-Comm’s 40 year history of building and manufacturing satellite ground stations is a display of the unique grit and ingenuity of our Australian spirit.
